A new challenge awaits Mareile Höppner. The RTL returnee will moderate “stern TV am Sonntag” for the first time.

The moderator Mareile Höppner (45) will present the program “stern TV am Sonntag” for the first time on RTL next Sunday. It will premiere on March 5th at 10:10 p.m. In an interview with the broadcaster, she already announced a surprise guest: “And if everything works out, I’m looking forward to a special guest in the studio. It would be a premiere for both of us. I’m curious who will be more surprised.”

The special thing about the show is that “we always want to stay up to date”. That means that you plan, but in the end throw another topic overboard for an even stronger topic. Mareile Höppner has been back at RTL since the beginning of the year. She had previously worked for the station. After a trip to the ProSieben/Sat.1 group, she has mainly worked for ARD in recent years, where she presented the magazine “Brisant”, among other things.

Mareile Höppner shares “stern TV am Sonntag” moderation with Steffen Hallaschka and Dieter Könnes

Since 2023, she has been moderating the RTL tabloid magazine “Extra” every Tuesday from 10:45 p.m., which was presented by Birgit Schrowange (64) for 25 years and by Nazan Eckes (46) from 2019 to 2022. “stern TV am Sonntag” has been the offshoot of the conventional program “stern TV” since 2022, which is broadcast on Wednesdays. The current anchorman and main presenter has been Steffen Hallaschka (51) since 2011. He currently shares the moderation of the Sunday editions with Dieter Könnes (51) and since the beginning of the year also with Höppner. Last year, Frauke Ludowig (59) and Nikolaus Blome (59) also got a chance on “stern TV am Sonntag” on Sundays.

The colleagues made her new start at RTL “easy”, says Höppner about her current professional challenge. “The first few weeks were exciting and it looks like it will stay that way,” says Höppner. If you could say that about your work after 20 years on the job, “everything would go well”.
