Ten years ago it was fiction, today it is at least a scenario that no longer seems like a novel, but rather realistic: Marc Elsberg published the book “Blackout” in 2012 and was already dealing with “critical infrastructure” before the term was used in the face of the pandemic and entered the everyday vocabulary of ordinary people after a war in Europe. “The basic idea was to write about how well we are doing,” says Elsberg on the stage of the SZ economic summit in Berlin – and how much the peaceful everyday life is in danger today due to the high level of networking.
