Flash, flash, flash… The police radars flashed like machine guns last year on the territory of Grand Paris. More than 2 million flashes were recorded by the police in 2022, compared to just over 1.5 million the year before, according to figures communicated by the prefecture. That’s an increase of 29%.
In Greater Paris, one of the most effective radars is the one located in Le Bourget, in Seine Saint-Denis, on the A1 motorway, with more than 130,000 flashes recorded in 2020. On the second place of the podium we then found the one located at the entrance to Paris, on the A6B motorway, with nearly 120,000 flashes.
100 dead, including 43 pedestrians
Road Safety figures for 2022 also provide other details, which do not only concern PV, but also much more serious facts. We learn that there were about 12,600 road accidents last year, causing more than 14,400 injuries and 100 deaths. However, the number of deaths is lower than last year, when there were 134 deaths, 15,000 injuries and nearly 12,900 accidents.
“Among these deaths, there are, in 2022, 43 pedestrians, 4 cyclists, 31 users of motorized two-wheelers, 12 users of light vehicles, 8 users of motorized personal transport vehicles (EDPM) and 2 other deaths not fit. in these categories”, details the prefecture. In 2022 as in 2021, pedestrians paid the most for road safety.
