Nagelsmann says only this much: Hungary are “under a little more pressure than us” after the 1:3 defeat against Switzerland, and he expects the 26th ranked team in the world to be “a little more offensive”. And that is precisely where his team’s “chance” lies. At the same time, Nagelsmann warns against excessive expectations. No one should believe “that we can shoot every opponent out of the stadium”, he stresses. Nagelsmann will tackle the complicated task with the same starting eleven that he sent out against the Scots.
At the last European Championship, the Hungarians brought the German team to the brink of elimination in the group stage on a stormy football night in Munich, before Leon Goretzka scored with force to make it 2-2 – and thus saved his team.
Goretzka is missing this time, Manuel Neuer is back. The Munich player, who was completely unemployed in the opening match, is playing in his fourth European Championship – and has now become the sole record player among goalkeepers. With his 18th European Championship appearance, the 38-year-old has left Italy’s goalkeeping legend Gianluigi Buffon behind him. At the same time, the FC Bayern captain, who survived a veritable goalkeeping discussion unscathed shortly before the start of the tournament, has drawn level with Bastian Schweinsteiger and is thus also the German European Championship record player.

Croatia absolutely needs a win after the clear opening defeat.
In the last game of the day, Switzerland can already safely shoot the DFB team into the round of 16: If the German team wins and Switzerland beats Scotland (9 p.m./ Live on ARD, on MagentaTV and in the live ticker on ntv.de) at least a draw, Germany will be the first to reach the round of 16. With a win, Switzerland would also advance in this constellation.
