Manchester United defeats Liverpool – Klopp: “Not a disaster game”

Meet Sancho and Rashford

Jürgen Klopp is preparing for restless days after Liverpool FC’s false start. “It’s not the easiest situation, but it’s like life: if it rains, you have to get out,” said the 55-year-old to “Sky” after the deserved 1-2 draw in the Premier League at Manchester United.

While the Reds now have two points from three games, the win gave United their first three points under new coach Erik ten Hag. “It wasn’t a disaster game for us,” said Klopp. In the meantime, “a bunch of really good stuff was put on the pitch”, including Mohamed Salah’s 2-1 lead (81′). Without Cristiano Ronaldo, who was willing to make a change, and captain Harry Maguire in the starting XI, the home team showed a spirited performance – Luke Shaw and Fred were also absent.

For former Dortmund player Jadon Sancho, who paved the way to the first win of the season with his 1-0 win (16th), the greater motivation was decisive. “We knew it was an important game, that we had to turn things around today,” said the England international. “Last week hurt a lot, we knew we had to fight back,” said Sancho. Previously, it was a 0:4 against Brentford.

For Manchester’s second goalscorer, Marcus Rashford (53′), the ‘energy’ on the pitch was the biggest success factor. “We started the game with more speed,” he said. The risk of doing without top performers paid off. “I don’t see it that way with the risk,” said Dutchman ten Hag. He has a large squad and has to “make decisions” that could be “different again next week”.

While the “Red Devils” want to keep Ronaldo, the Portuguese would also like to play for a club that plays in the Champions League this season – but buyers who want to afford his contract and get involved in the “premier class” are in short supply. Maguire, who was criticized by fans and experts at the start of the season, has recently been rumored to be interested in Chelsea FC.

On the access side, Manchester presented Casemiro to the fans before kick-off, who comes from Real Madrid for almost 71 million euros. Furthermore, United should continue to vie for the services of Ajax winger Antony – with an 80 million offer they were recently turned down.
