Man suspected of shooting dead two bikers surrenders

Two people are being held in custody in the North, Douai prosecutor Frédéric Fourtoy said on Monday afternoon, without giving further details. A man presented himself to the research section of the Lille gendarmerie, he is suspected ofhaving shot dead two members of a motorcycle club affiliated with the Hells Angels on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

The second individual, who is believed to have had a “more modest role” in the affair, was arrested late Sunday, a source close to the investigation said. “A judicial investigation will probably be opened during the week on charges of murder by an organized gang and criminal association,” added the Douai prosecutor’s office. Investigators are focusing on the possibility of an internal conflict within the “Chosen Few” biker group, affiliated with the Hells Angels, according to the source close to the investigation.

Motorcycle club linked to ‘criminal acts with neo-Nazi ideology’?

The double murder took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday in a hangar in Aubigny-au-Bac (North), between Cambrai and Douai. The two victims are two men aged 30 and 38 who “belonged to or were close to a motorcycle club”, Frédéric Fourtoy said on Sunday. They were found dead in a hangar. According to a source close to the case, the two victims were known for common law offences.

Fifteen members of the “Chosen Few” from Lille, 50 kilometres from Aubigny-au-Bac, were arrested in June 2015 as part of a large police operation aimed at dismantling the club. With the support of 230 soldiers, this operation led to the seizure of drugs, weapons and vehicles stolen in Lille, Douai, Lens and Calais.

A source close to the investigation said at the time that the “Chosen Few” had carried out “numerous criminal acts, with a neo-Nazi ideology.”
