Man probably intentionally drives into group of people and injures child

Yesterday afternoon, at a church fair in Großwallstadt near Aschaffenburg, a man drove his car into a group of people. Several people were slightly injured. The driver of the car had to be resuscitated.

Man apparently angry – no terror

Initially, the police suspected a heart attack as the cause. During further investigations on site, however, it emerged that the driver had acted intentionally. However, the officers have ruled out a terrorist attack. There are indications that the man was angry because he was prevented from continuing his journey because of the church fair, according to the police. The officers have called in an expert to clarify the matter.

Ten-year-old child among the injured

The 58-year-old had driven off the road on the main street of the small town in the Miltenberg district in the late afternoon. The fire brigade, rescue service and a crisis intervention team were on site to care for the injured, among them a ten-year-old child. The three-day church festival had begun on Saturday and was actually only supposed to end on Monday evening.
