Several witnesses reported shots fired in a bar and called the police. A short time later, heavily armed officers are deployed. But any help comes too late for a guest.
A 29-year-old was killed in shots fired in a bar in downtown Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg. Any medical help came too late for the man, they said Police with. He died on site. According to the information, several people had previously called the emergency number late on Wednesday evening and reported shots fired. The mayor of Göppingen, Alexander Maier (Greens), had previously told the German Press Agency that there was no danger to the population. Several media outlets had previously reported.
Heavily armed police officers on duty
The photos showed, among other things, masked police officers armed with submachine guns. The rescue service was also on duty with several vehicles. According to a dpa reporter, forensic scientists also secured traces. The Swabian city is located about 40 kilometers east of Stuttgart.
According to Maier, the 19th Göppingen Wine Festival was taking place at the time of the shooting. This was not evacuated, but ended normally. There was no panic. It was initially not known whether the festival would continue in the coming days.
Reference to violent series unclear
