Main suspect sentenced for harassment

She did not come this Tuesday to the hearing before the Foix criminal court but will be forced to sit in the box of the Assize Court of Ariège next November. Marie-José Montesinos, currently imprisoned in the Seysses remand center, near Toulouse, was sentenced on Tuesday to six months in prison suspended for harassing her former companion whom she is also suspected of having killed. This 61-year-old nurse, whom some call “the diabolical”, and her lover Jean-Paul Vidal, 52-year-old mechanic and stuntman, are indeed accused of having killed Christophe Orsaz and his daughter Célia in November 2017 , a crime against a backdrop of amorous spite. The victims lived in Mirepoix, an hour from the Pink City, and their disappearance was only clarified six months later.

But, upstream of this criminal procedure, another had been initiated against Marie-José Montesinos, following a complaint filed by Christophe Orsaz for theft, harassment, and invasion of the privacy of his private life. At the time, the man who was his former companion, accused the nurse of having stolen a USB key containing photos revealing his privacy, of having disseminated them but also of harassing him, in particular by denigrating him from his employers until that some of them decide to do without the services of this landscape gardener.

The representative of the prosecution, Benoît de Saintignon, considered that the offenses were made up and asked for a ten-month suspended prison sentence.

“She will assume what she has done”

On the defense side, Laurent de Caunes deplored an “artificial procedure” initiated at a time when investigators suspected Marie-José Montesinos of being linked to the disappearance of Christophe Orsaz and his daughter, whose bodies had no yet been found. “Today, you are asked to judge part of another case,” pleaded the lawyer. At the assizes, “she will assume what she has done”, he added, announcing that he wanted to request new expertise on his client whom he describes as “a person full of angles, fractures, roughness, in permanent depression.

Members of Christophe Orsaz’s family – a brother and two sisters – wanted to be civil parties in this criminal case but their requests were rejected by the court.

Xavier Orsaz, brother of Christophe, was nevertheless satisfied to see the harassment recognized. “It bodes well for November,” he said after the deliberations.
