The Swede has made herself rare in recent years. Princess Madeleine is now sharing previously unpublished recordings that show her unusually privately.
Madeleine of Sweden celebrated a special anniversary on Thursday: ten years ago, the princess gave the yes word to British-American businessman Chris O’Neill. The royal wedding took place on June 8, 2013 in the Palace Church in Stockholm. With a post on her official Instagram account, the 40-year-old now remembers this day – and shares previously unpublished photos from her photo album.
“Private moments that I remember from our wedding,” announced Madeleine to the gallery. The first three of nine images, which you can browse through by clicking on the arrow on the right, show the princess as a bride. The fourth captures an intimate moment with her mother, Queen Silvia, just before the wedding.
Afterwards, fans will get a glimpse of the post-ceremony celebrations. Madeleine laughs, celebrates and kisses her newly wed husband. The couple shows up on the dance floor together, happiness written all over their faces. You rarely see the princess so detached.

Madeleine had made herself rare in her home country, especially in recent years. In 2018 she emigrated to the USA with her family, lived with Chris O’Neill and their three children Leonore Nicolas and Adrienne in Florida. Her absence on important occasions, such as her father’s birthday or the national holiday last year, caused displeasure among the people. The popularity of the princess continued to decline.
