On October 18, 2021 the time had finally come: Apple has unveiled some long-awaited new products. In addition to the much discussed AirPods 3, there is also something new on the MacBook front after a year. Since October 26, 2021, Apple fans have had the opportunity to secure a new MacBook Pro. The new MacBook Pros come in two sizes: a 14.2-inch version and a 16.2-inch version. Both have an aluminum case reminiscent of the MacBook Pro from 2016.
A new inner workings: the Apple M1 chips
The inner workings of the new MacBook Pros * make up the M1 chips from Apple. With the M1 Pro and the M1 Max, Apple has presented the more powerful versions of the well-known M1 chip. The M1 Pro is said to have 70 percent more CPU performance and twice as high graphics performance. Even more powerful is the M1-Max chip, which outperforms the M1 chip by a factor of four, making it the largest chip that Apple has produced to date. With the new processor, up to four external screens can be connected to just one device.
To keep up with the new chips, Apple has also upgraded the operating system. With MacOS Monterey, working on your notebook is even smoother and applications such as the video editing program “Final Cut Pro” have been expanded. One of the most exciting features of the new operating system is “Universal Control”, with which you can seamlessly access your iPad from your Mac. In this way, content can be easily copied back and forth between the devices and you can control your iPad with the mouse or the keyboard of your Mac.

When it comes to equipping the new MacBook Pros * Apple made some changes. So is the touchbar history – the function keys are back instead. Other returnees previously sorely missed by many are the HDMI connection, the SD card reader and the MagSafe adapter. There are also three Thunderbolt 4 sockets and a headphone jack.
How long will the battery of the new notebooks last?
The battery of the MacBook Pros has also gotten better. The 14-inch model should be able to play videos for 17 hours – the 16-inch version even for 21 hours. And if the battery of your notebook has given up the ghost, it can be charged to 50 percent within 30 minutes using the quick charge function.

Both new MacBook Pros use mini-LED screens. This technology enables high contrasts to be displayed using numerous local dimming zones. And the high resolution is also impressive: the smaller MacBook Pro impresses with 3024 by 1964 pixels and the larger with 3456 by 2234 pixels. Another highlight is the ProMotion technology used, which makes it possible to dynamically adjust the frame rate depending on the situation. A maximum of 120 Hertz is possible. And something else is new: the notch known from the iPhone at the top of the screen. However, there is no face recognition in the recess, but a full HD webcam.
