Lower Franconia: snowfall causes school and bus cancellations – Bavaria

Winter has returned to Bavaria in some places: In Würzburg, there were massive delays and cancellations in bus services on Wednesday morning, as reported by the Würzburger Verkehrs- und Versorgungs-GmbH (WVV). “The buses only run occasionally. There is so much snow that it is impossible to get through,” said a WVV spokeswoman in the morning.

The streets have not yet been cleared. Passengers should pay attention to the display boards for possible delays. However, the tram was not affected by the failures, the spokeswoman said.

There were also school failures in parts of Lower Franconia. In the city and district of Würzburg and in the district of Kitzingen, face-to-face teaching at public schools was canceled on Wednesday, as the Bavarian Ministry of Education announced on a website set up for this purpose.

However, the students are not automatically guaranteed a day off: the schools can decide individually about distance learning. The German Weather Service expected snowfall and ice, especially in Franconia, on Wednesday morning, and from midday also on the edge of the Alps.
