Blood Family Mafia Members Sentenced for Violent Crimes

On Friday, two members of the notorious Blood Family Mafia, Kevin Bédard-Morin and Vince Bergeron, accepted their culpability for a series of violent incidents related to the ongoing drug conflict. Both individuals have received lengthy prison sentences for their actions.

Arrest Details and Criminal Activities

The duo was apprehended on December 6, 2023, following a police chase involving Bergeron’s vehicle. Authorities had been monitoring the pair due to concerns that they were en route to Beauce to execute a violent crime, potentially a murder.

During the pursuit, the car veered off Route 173, leading to the discovery of a handgun in the back seat. In court, Bergeron pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, while Bédard-Morin confessed to possessing the firearm.

At the time of their arrest, Bergeron was under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident that took place on Highway 40 in Quebec just a month prior. The 27-year-old admitted to firing a gun at a vehicle occupied by two people, intending to send a threatening message. One of the bullets struck a victim in the leg.

As a result of his actions, Bergeron was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.

Bédard-Morin, aged 30, also faced charges related to a robbery and assault in November 2023 in Beauce. He and an accomplice invaded a victim’s home, physically assaulted her, and stole drugs, jewelry, and a laptop. He further escalated the situation by threatening the victim at gunpoint, stating that “it was over for [her].” The following day, he returned to the scene, and during a confrontation, he shot the victim in the leg.

Evidence and Additional Charges

In an unexpected twist, investigators uncovered videos on the suspects’ seized phones that implicated them in two more violent incidents from the weeks leading up to their arrest. These disturbing recordings depicted Bédard-Morin and Bergeron assaulting two individuals during separate occurrences. One particularly shocking video showed a victim bound with electrical wires and subjected to brutal beatings.

Despite the victims’ reluctance to cooperate, the compelling evidence obtained from the suspects’ devices led to the filing of additional charges against them.

Authorities have linked these violent acts to organized crime, confirming Bédard-Morin and Bergeron’s association with the Blood Family Mafia. Following their pre-trial detention, Bédard-Morin has seven and a half years left to serve, while Bergeron has just under six years remaining in his sentence.
