Louis Klamroth’s premiere at “Hart aber Fair” goes smoothly. The new host is more like his predecessor Frank Plasberg than expected. However, he probably wouldn’t have put a word in his mouth.

“Hart aber Fair” is back from the Christmas break. Host Frank Plasberg is no longer there. After more than 20 years, he has passed on the moderation of the show. His successor is Louis Klamroth, who has proven at ProSieben and ntv that he is able to stand up to the alpha animals in politics. Now he should bring a breath of fresh air to the ARD talk format.

“A country is getting poorer: who will pay the 2023 crisis bill?” is the theme of Klamroth’s premiere show. In addition to the current price increases, it is also about the question of how much the state is relieving the burden on people.

Guests at “Hart aber Fair” were:

  • Lars KlingbeilFederal Chairman, SPD
  • Jens Spahndeputy parliamentary group leader, CDU
  • Monika Schnitzer, Economist and Chair of the Advisory Council
  • Melanie Amannjournalist and member of the “Spiegel” editorial board
  • Engin Kelikmetal worker and family man

Unusual unity at the Klamroth premiere

There was no heated debate between Jens Spahn (CDU) and Lars Klingbeil (SPD) at Klamroth’s premiere. On the contrary: the two agree surprisingly often. Spahn even praises the gas procurement of the traffic light coalition and speaks of many “quick and correct decisions”.

Of course, the CDU politician also criticizes the federal government, but it almost seems like a compulsory exercise. In his opinion, she decided too late on some issues. Spahn is alluding to the gas levy, among other things. Klingbeil agrees, who admits that “one lap too many” was done with the gas allocation.

Many topics, little focus

Unfortunately, the debate hardly picks up speed, which may also be due to the fact that Klamroth is trying to push through a large number of topics within 75 minutes. From food prices to liquid gas terminals to energy solos – this show has enough topics for a whole week of “Markus Lanz”.

After all: Like Lanz, Klamroth also seems calm and humorous. Overall, however, he is much more reminiscent of his predecessor Frank Plasberg. Similar to this, Klamroth also ensures that every talk guest regularly has their say and often prevents discussions between the guests. However: The words “oh shit” would probably not have come across the lips of Klamroth’s predecessors.

Klamroth proves to be a spoilsport when Spiegel journalist Melanie Amann and Jens Spahn argue about the Merkel era: “I don’t want to discuss Merkel after 16 years,” the moderator stops the impending argument.

Louis Klamroth: A breath of fresh air? More of a breeze…

Unlike usual, sidekick Brigitte Büscher was allowed to present opinions and comments from citizens after just a few minutes. To do this, she took to the streets and interviewed people in front of a supermarket to give an insight into the tense financial situation of some.

If there is no fresh wind in the show, Büscher at least provides a fresh breeze.
