Shortly before the final of the ESC, Chris Harms, the singer of Lord of the Lost, seems to have problems with his voice.

On May 13, Lord of the Lost will perform “Blood & Glitter” for Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool. Chris Harms (43), the rock band’s singer, apparently has problems with his voice at the moment and has to rest it.

It can happen quickly “that a sore throat sets in”

“With daily rehearsals and hours of interviews, it’s easy for me to get a sore throat,” says Harms in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper. Although the daily newspaper met the singer on site, he did not speak and only communicated in writing. “I already know that from tours. The only thing that helps then: shut up, as much as possible,” he explains.

Luckily the band doesn’t have to compete in today’s second semi-final. Germany is already firmly established as one of the “Big Five” alongside France, Great Britain, Italy and Spain. Last year’s winner does not have to qualify either, which means that Ukraine is automatically included. Due to the war, however, the competition will be held in Great Britain.

Harms still has time to recover until Saturday. “Only written interviews, drinking tea, nodding and smiling instead of many words” is his plan. “Then the issue will quickly take care of itself.” According to the report, he only made an exception for a brief appearance in a high school in Liverpool.

ESC participation for Harms “a big childhood dream”

In mid-March, Harms explained in an interview with the news agency spot on news that a dream would come true for him with the ESC appearance: “Since my childhood, the Grand Prix has been one of the annual television events. And since I’m already making music , since I was five years old, taking part in the ESC has been a big childhood dream come true!” According to Harms, the band doesn’t want to orient themselves desperately to other artists for the show: “LOTL are like LOTL are, and we’ll do our thing, as straight and authentic as we are.”

Das Erste, ONE and eurovision.de will show “ESC – Der Countdown” with Barbara Schöneberger (49) on May 13 from 8:15 p.m. The live broadcast of the music event from Liverpool follows at 9 p.m.
