The new album by the singer Emeli Sandé offers a great variety of sounds. Free from the expectations of others, the Brit reinvents herself and says: “There is so much beauty in slowing down.”

Pop, disco, classic, nostalgic R&B – Emeli Sandé offers a colorful variety on her new album «Let’s Say For Instance».

Without having to take foreign expectations into account, the singer used her home studio during the corona lockdown to try out a lot of music. After three successful albums to date, Sandé is now releasing her current record for the first time on the independent label Chrysalis.

“I love the ’80s vibe’ of the album, it really reminds me of what my parents might have heard when they met,” she says. The pandemic gave her time to slow down for the first time. Sandé became more interested in opera and classical music. “There is so much beauty in slowing down and digging deeper.”

She co-wrote one of her favorite songs, There Isn’t Much, with musicians Naughty Boy and Shaq. “The song is about everything being an illusion – except love,” says Sandé. She has experienced many high points in her career but has not been able to enjoy it all or feel happy. She then realized that everything she thought she wanted was nothing without the right person to share it with.
