There was a fire in a cable shaft in the railway facilities in Berlin. Local and long-distance traffic is affected – and will remain so for several days.
Deutsche Bahn expects a cable fire on a railway line in Berlin will continue to have restrictions on train traffic until next week. Technical experts from the railway are working to repair the damage as quickly as possible. “Because several cables are affected, the repair work will continue over the weekend. Train traffic will probably remain restricted until the beginning of next week,” the company said.
During the night, a fire broke out in a cable shaft on the railway in Berlin. This led to restrictions on long-distance, regional and S-Bahn services. The section between Berlin Central Station and Berlin-Spandau is affected. The stop in Berlin-Spandau is therefore cancelled. Long-distance trains are being diverted via the northern outer ring to Berlin-Gesundbrunnen and the main station. Trains in regional services are also being diverted, are delayed or stops are not being served. The S41/S42 S-Bahn line between Westend and Beusselstraße is interrupted, and according to the railway, a replacement service has been in place since 7 a.m.
