Liverpool-PK: Klopp roasts reporter over Hamann quote – ‘Ask your own question’
For Liverpool FC, things are anything but smooth this season. Especially in the Premier League, the Reds lag far behind their own claims. After the bankruptcy against Arsenal, coach Jürgen Klopp has already written off the championship title.
At the press conference before the Champions League duel at Rangers, Klopp was asked about a statement by Didi Hamann. The TV pundit and former Liverpool midfielder said it would take a ‘spark’ to see the Reds out of the crisis.
Klopp didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic about the question. At first he said sarcastically that Hamann was “a fantastic source, respected everywhere”. He later instructed the reporter to ask his own questions.

Klopp: “Who said that?”
Reporter: “Didi Hamann”
Klopp: “Oh, great. He’s a fantastic source, very respected everywhere.”
Reporter: ‘A former Liverpool midfielder who obviously achieved a lot while he was there…’
Klopp: “That doesn’t give you the right to say what you want, especially if you have no idea.”
Reporter: “Well, I’m asking you, what do you think you need? I mean, where do you see the spark – if it’s a spark you need – coming from?”
Klopp: “I don’t think Didi Hamann really deserves that you – how should I put it now – use his statement to ask me a question. Do me a favor and ask your own question.”
Reporter: “Then we won’t use that phrase. But I find… What is it that you feel you need?”
Klopp: “Try asking a question without the word ‘spark’… That’s the challenge.”
