LIVE – Omicron variant: South Africa should quickly pass the 10,000 daily contaminations

– In a note sent to its 194 member states, the‘World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes a risk “very high” of the Omicron variant worldwide.

– Several cases of this new variant have been detected in at least one dozen countries including Scotland, Canada, Austria, England, Portugal, South Africa, Hong Kong, Germany, Denmark, Israel.

– The G7 health ministers (France, United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and United Kingdom) will meet urgently this Monday afternoon in London “to discuss the development of the situation on Omicron”.

– South Africa, country where the variant Omicron was detected for the first time, exponentially expects contaminations, with at least 10,000 cases per day.

– Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron both received their booster dose this weekend, at the same time as the flu vaccine.

– Doctolib recorded nearly a million new appointments for the vaccine booster this weekend. In all, 6,583,961 people have already received their booster dose.
