Lindner stands alone: Away with the debt brake – Economy

Now the Federation of German Industries is doing the same. The BDI is proposing that the federal government should invest 400 billion euros over the next ten years – through loans. The association is thus joining the long list of those who, like the Council of Economic Experts or the International Monetary Fund, are shaking up the debt brake. These critics are right, but Finance Minister Christian Lindner is wrong: the Federal Republic urgently needs more investment, but not a debt corset.
