Orangecello Spritz
Fancy a new taste experience? Then try this summer drink

As the name suggests, the Orangecello Spritz is a fruity and fresh (alcoholic) cocktail
During her vacation trip through Croatia, our author discovered her new favorite drink: an Orangecello Spritz. The fruity, fresh cocktail is not that dissimilar to the Limoncello Spritz, but – as you might have guessed – is not made with lemon liqueur. We’ll tell you the recipe.
The schnapps made from fresh organic orange peels forms the basis for an Orangecello Spritz. The The original from Croatia is available from the distillery itself, but the Spitz can also be prepared with any other orange liqueur. The only important thing is the combination of the most important ingredients – and the right proportions. How you can easily recreate the refreshing fruit cocktail at home is explained in the next paragraph.
Orangecello Spritz: How to make the fruit cocktail
For the preparation you need, in addition to a Orange liqueurthe following ingredients (sufficient for six glasses):
- 1 orange (organic quality)
- 1 bottle of Prosecco
- 750 ml soda water
- 120 ml Orangecello
- Ice cubes
Decoration tip: If you like, you can decorate the drink with fresh mint leaves or a sprig of rosemary.
And this is how you mix the trend drink of the summer:
- Step: Wash the orange under running water and then cut the citrus fruit into six equal-sized slices.
- Step: Divide 20 milliliters of Orangecello into each of the six glasses, then mix the liqueur with 125 milliliters of Prosecco each.
- Step: Finally, fill each glass with 125 milliliters of mineral water and add a few ice cubes (and some mint).
Well then: Cheers – or as they would say in Croatia: Uzdravlje!
How to make orange liqueur yourself
The Croatian family recipe for making a “real” Orangecello is of course secret. However, a similar orange liqueur can be made in just a few steps. All you need are these ingredients: nine organic oranges, 700 milliliters of vodka and 400 grams of sugarThen proceed as follows: Squeeze the citrus fruits and pour the juice through a fine sieve into a saucepan. Now mix the juice with the sugar, bring the mixture to the boil briefly and let it simmer for five minutes – until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Remove the pot from the heat and let the juice cool down a little before adding the vodka. Now it is time to pour the orange liqueur into one or two (sterile) glass bottles with Screw cap or Swing closure Pour it into a large container and close it tightly. Let the Orangecello steep in a cool, dark place for a week – and then enjoy. Remember, however, that its shelf life is limited to a maximum of two months.
