Ligue 1 – 13th day: Saint-Etienne wins its first victory against Clermont (3-2), Monaco remains silent in Reims

Saint-Etienne – Clermont: 3-2

Incredible AS Saint-Etienne! Led by Angers a fortnight ago before picking up again (2-2), then by Metz last weekend before coming back to score (1-1), ASSE has this time completely overthrown Clermont! The Ultras, present around Geoffroy-Guichard, had deserted them at the hour mark when Mohamed Bayo opened the scoring (0-1, 59th). We did not give the Greens a lot of skin when Jason Berthomier (0-2, 64th) doubled the bet. It was before the last twenty minutes of madness. First because Arnaud Nordin found the bar on his recovery (73rd) before closing the gap (1-2, 77th). Then in stoppage time: Jean-Philippe Krasso catapulted his head into the Clermont goal (2-2, 90th + 2) then Saïdou Sow, trained in Forez, imitated him (3-2, 90th + 4) to offer his first victory this season.

What we remember: The Greens have a real heart and they regain victory almost six months later in Ligue 1.

Lorient – Brest: 1 – 2

Brest likes to keep suspense. Picked cold in the Breton derby by the ride of Terem Moffi concluded by Adrian Grbić (1-0, 5th), the Brestois waited for the second period to overthrow Lorient. The Merlus had however been reduced to ten in the 28th minute by the expulsion of Jérôme Hergault. But it was not until the 58th minute to see Romain Faivre transform a penalty (1-1) then the 80th to see Steve Mounié almost cut on the line a center-shot from Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel (1-2). It was a minute after Irvin Cardona’s goal was denied for an offside position. Suspense, always suspense.

What we remember: Two victories after 11 matches without winning, Brest has definitely launched its season.

Reims – Monaco: 0-0

No winner between Reims and Monaco at Auguste-Delaune (0-0). And not much to eat. In a closed and choppy match, the defenses clearly gained the upper hand over the attacks. That of the ASM is now three consecutive matches without scoring, in all competitions, which largely explains why the formation of Niko Kovac vegetates in the middle of the table, in 10th place. The Rémois will eventually be able to be satisfied with having put an end to the bleeding after two consecutive defeats, but they are still five games without a win and remain in difficulty at the 17th position.

What we remember: we are still looking …

Nantes – Strasbourg: 2-2

Nantes had the cards in hand to sign a fourth consecutive victory at home and climb to fifth place in the standings. But while they were in the lead on the scoreboard thanks to two head shots from Kalifa Coulibaly (20th) and Randal Kolo Muani (48th), on two crosses from the inevitable Moses Simon, and in numerical superiority after the expulsion of Ludovic Ajorque (51st), the Canaries finally conceded a draw against Strasbourg (2-2). The Alsatians managed the feat of coming back to score twice with goals from Habib Diallo (44th) and Adrien Thomasson (68th). The FCN is 9th in the standings with 18 points, like the RCS (7th).

What we remember: the character of the people of Strasbourg. It was necessary that to bring back this point of La Beaujoire.
