“Iron Man” Camavinga ignites Real

Already focused on its next Champions League semi-final against Manchester City and the King’s Cup final against Osasuna, Real Madrid quietly appeared on the Montilivi lawn. He even immediately got a great chance with a small heel from Rodrygo, center forward in the absence of Karim Benzema, deflected in extremis (1st) and quickly put his foot on the ball in the opposing camp.
Castellanos’ lesson in realism
Except that the Merengue, forgetting that they traditionally do poorly against the Gironians, let themselves be put to sleep. Then surprise and punish above all. The Catalans combined nicely on the left and opened the scoring on their first opportunity thanks to a header from Castellanos who unknowingly launched his crazy evening (12th). The Argentinian striker on loan from New York City FC did it again by starting straight behind Eder Militao before placing the ball between the legs of Andriy Lunin, replacing Thibaut Courtois, ill (2-0, 24th ).
Faced with a losing Madrid defense, Girona still hurt on its rare offensives and Viktor Tsygankov just missed the target (28th). Only Merengue in sight, the twirling and boiling Vinicius still reduced the score following a corner and a cross from the much too discreet Marco Asensio (2-1, 34th). The Brazilian struggled by multiplying the breakthroughs, the crazy dribbles but also some bickering with his opponents after muscular duels.
A Real without envy
Vinicius’ partners have all proven to be failing. Rodrigo Riquelme almost penalized them again with a nice curling shot that went just wide of the frame (38th). It was written that there would be only one hero in this match and Castellanos struck again at the start of the second half with a recovery from the penalty spot (3-1, 46th). With his three goals, he was already following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Carlos Soler but didn’t want to stop there.
Castellanos offered a fourth with a header on a deflected cross from Yan Couto from the right (4-1, 62nd). He has 11 La Liga goals this season. Launched by Carlo Ancelotti, Eduardo Camavinga (52nd) and Aurélien Tchouaméni (64th) failed to restore the aggressiveness to their partners. Entering later (79th), Lucas Vazquez reduced the score on a service from Vinicius (4-2, 85th). Insufficient to allow the people of Madrid to avoid a severe defeat against promoted who have almost ensured the maintenance and can even dream of a European ticket at the end of the season.
