As a full-length film and with female stars: ARD is bringing back “Liebling Kreuzberg”.

25 years after the last episode of the cult series with Manfred Krug (1937-2016): The ARD is bringing back “Liebling Kreuzberg” in the form of a full-length feature film. As the broadcaster announced in a press release on Friday, filming on the project with the working title “Liebling Kreuzberg 2.0” is currently underway in Berlin. The broadcast is planned for 2024 or 2025 on Erste.

The focus of the new edition are two women. The title heroine is Lisa Darling, the granddaughter of the late series protagonist Robert Darling. Fresh out of university, she joins her grandfather’s law firm. There she meets Dr. Talia Jahnka, Robert Favorit’s last professional partner.

Like her grandfather, Lisa Favoriten is more interested in representing the little people in Kreuzberg than lucrative business clients. This bothers Dr. Jahnka, who has just made the law firm profitable, is upset. Lisa Favoriten defends a man who was discriminated against by age and a couple who were victims of rental nomads.

The old and new actors of “Liebling Kreuzberg 2.0”

Luise von Finckh (29) takes on the title role in “Liebling Kreuzberg 2.0”. The Berlin native played, among other things, Jule Vogt in “Good Times, Bad Times” and most recently a leading role in the Netflix series “Sleeping Dogs”. Gabriela Maria Schmeide (58, “Mrs. Müller has to go”) embodies the experienced lawyer Talia Jahnka at her side. Also new is Emre Aksizoglu (35) as junior lawyer Cem Oktay.

Two actresses from the original series take up their old roles in the reboot. Anja Franke (59) again plays the lawyer Senta Kurzweg. And Roswitha Schreiner (58) once again embodies Sarah Favoriten, Robert’s daughter and mother of Lisa.

“Liebling Kreuzberg” first aired on ARD in 1986. The unconventional lawyer and notary with a penchant for affairs, motorcycles and Jell-O, portrayed by Manfred Krug, quickly became a cult figure. Jurek Becker (1937-1997), a respected novelist (“Jakob the Liar”), wrote the scripts. Becker wrote the series specifically for his friend Manfred Krug. After five seasons it ended in 1998.
