Shortly after the money was handed over, the police in Upper Franconia caught a grandson trickster. As the officials announced on Friday, they had been called by a senior citizen from Lichtenberg (Hof district). This had received a so-called shock call on Wednesday. The callers had claimed that their grandson had caused a serious car accident. Now she should hand over several tens of thousands of euros as a deposit. The fraud was only discovered when the woman called her grandson after handing over all her savings. Investigators immediately searched for the woman who had collected the money. Police officers finally arrested the 25-year-old in a motorway parking lot near Munich. She is in custody.
