LFI activist, the family assistant suspected of rape of a little girl excluded from the party

Stupor within Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s party. La France insoumise fired one of its activists this Wednesday, suspected of being involved in a serious affair. Because the man, who was a candidate in the departmental elections in 2021, is none other than the family assistant indicted in Loire-Atlantique for rape of a disabled 4-year-old girl.

“We discovered this with horror. This person was excluded this morning from La France insoumise,” declared the coordinator of La France insoumise, Manuel Bompard, confirming information from West France.

Approved by Child Welfare for a year

A trained caregiver and involved in local community life, unknown to the police, the 32-year-old man had been approved by Child Welfare since December 1, 2023. A little girl, presenting a “heavy disability”, had been placed at his home since December 2023.

Placed in police custody after a report from Europol, he admitted to rape and sexual assault on this little girl, according to the Nantes public prosecutor, Renaud Gaudeul. He was indicted at the end of September and imprisoned for “rape with acts of torture or barbarity” and sexual assault on the little girl, and also for recording and disseminating images of a child pornography nature.

On Monday, the Loire-Atlantique department expressed its “dismay” in a press release, specifying that it had carried out a “double check” of his criminal record.
