First his dance partner Kathrin Menzinger got infected, now René Casselly has it too: The circus artist tested positive for Corona. The pair, traded as favorites, will have to take a break from the upcoming show.
Circus artist René Casselly tested positive for Corona. This makes the 25-year-old another participant in the current “Let’s Dance” season who has been infected with the virus. “I’m extremely sad that we won’t be on the show next week. My heart is bleeding. I would have loved to dance with Kathrin again,” he said in one Instagram video. Casselly and his dance partner Kathrin Menzinger have to pause in the fifth show. The 33-year-old commented on Casselly’s post: “Oh no! Now I’ll have to miss you even longer partner. Get well soon and have a good rest! Let’s come back stronger.”
Casselly and Menzinger could not appear together on the “Let’s Dance” show last Friday because the Austrian had a positive corona test. “Although I really did everything to ensure that exactly that didn’t happen. Unfortunately, it still caught me,” said Menzinger in a video message. She was represented by professional dancer Regina Luca, who rehearsed the choreography with René Casselly within a few hours. In the live show, Luca and Casselly showed a rumba and received 26 points from the jury. The circus artist and “Ninja Warrior” winner is already one of the favorites of the 15th “Let’s Dance” season.
“Let’s Dance”: Numerous corona cases in the 15th season
However, the current consequences are overshadowed by numerous corona cases. Juror Joachim Llambi was infected before the start of the season and was therefore missing from the introductory show. Over the past few weeks, three professional dancers and – including René Casselly – six celebrities have dropped out. Actor Hardy Krüger Jr. became so ill that he was no longer able to take part in the show.
In the show last Friday, two dance couples were eliminated after the breaks caused by Corona. It met presenter Riccardo Basile and dancer Isabel Edvardsson as well as Lilly zu Sayn-Wittgenstein with her partner Andrzej Cibis. The latter are also among the dance couples who have had a corona infection.
