“An absolute cinema experience. The UGC distributor does not mince words to promote Annette, the musical by Leos Carax with Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver. In these times of closed theaters, we understand it, we all want to rediscover the cinema experience. Highly anticipated, the new film from the director of Holy Motors and Pont Neuf lovers will open the next Cannes film festival on July 6, when it is also due to hit theaters.

The return of the enfant terrible of French cinema

Annette tells the story of Henry, a stand-up comedian, and Ann, an internationally renowned singer. Under the spotlight, they form a happy and glamorous couple. The birth of their first child, Annette, a mysterious girl with an exceptional destiny, will turn their lives upside down. The film was made from an original idea by the American duo Sparks, a figure in alternative music since the 1970s, who also signed the soundtrack.

“Visionary and enigmatic, Leos Carax has signed some of the most beautiful scenes of French cinema of the past 35 years, through a filmography which has never ceased to show his mastery of directing,” underlines the Cannes festival in a statement. A poetic genius with an overflowing imagination, the enfant terrible of French cinema is used to overturning codes and genres to invent a world populated by visions and ghosts. “
