A 50-year-old tried to murder his cat on a train journey between Berlin and Leipzig. The loud screams of the animal drew the attention of the railway staff to the crime and they were able to save the cat in time.

A 50-year-old man tried to kill his cat in a train toilet on Tuesday afternoon. The animal made such loud noises that the ICE staff became aware of it and alerted the police, reports the Federal Police in Leipzig.

Police discover bloodied cat in train toilet

In the toilet, the officers discovered a completely wet and bloodied cat and temporarily took it into their care. The animal was injured and scared, the statement said.

According to T-Online, the ICE came from Berlin and was approaching Leipzig. However, the federal police officers waiting at the main station there were surprised by the find, because they had been incorrectly reported as a passenger without a ticket.

The 50-year-old was arrested for the time being and was later allowed to leave. Criminal proceedings were instituted against him for violating the Animal Welfare Act. The veterinary office took the cat to a vet where it will be examined further. She should be fine given the circumstances.
