Law to regulate influencers: What are the issues?

If this bill is currently being studied in the Assembly, it is because the sector is under the spotlight. Some influencers, who have become stars, offer products that guide behavior.

In recent months, the pressure has mounted to regulate an often decried activity: non-explicit paid partnerships, unfair competition, tax exile, gambling or questionable cosmetic products, there are countless scandals. The text would prohibit the promotion of cosmetic surgery and confirm the fact that influencers are subject to the rules of the Evin law on the promotion of alcoholic beverages.

“Reassure consumers”

Faced with a booming activity, this law aims to impose a framework for promotions on social networks. More generally, limit or punish abuses related to the “job” of influencer, still questioned today. For Tiphaine Neveu, influence specialist and consultant, the bill is excellent news for the profession: “It will provide a framework for activity, regulate a profession and reassure consumers”.

Between business, images and consumer protection, Tiphaine Neveu explains to us, after having participated in the discussions alongside Bruno Lemaire, everything about this law in our video.
