It was an open secret but Laurent Wauquiez put an end to the suspense, this Tuesday morning, by formalizing his candidacy for the regional elections in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. He was traveling to Tarare when he said he wanted to run for a second term at the head of the region. “To turn the page on the crisis, we need a solid region,” he said.
To turn the page on the crisis, we need a strong region.
A region capable of mobilizing all its forces.
It is for this reason that I am a candidate in the regional elections on June 20.# TheRegionWithAllStrengths pic.twitter.com/ETTvQy8fr8– Laurent Wauquiez (@laurentwauquiez) May 11, 2021
Laurent Wauquiez (LR), elected in December 2015 in favor of a triangular, is currently the favorite in the polls. He will have six opponents facing him, starting with the socialist Najat Vallaud-Belkacem who signs his return to politics, four years after his defeat in the legislative elections.
The RN finally relied on Andrea Kotarac to be present in the second round while the ecologists appointed Fabienne Grébert. Bruno Bonnell will wear the colors of the LREM. Communist Cécile Cukierman will lead the PCF-FI list and Chantal Gomez, that of Lutte Ouvrière. Gerbert Rambaud, candidate for Debout la France, has given up and is no longer running. The ballot will take place on June 20 and 27.
