Last generation in the Elphi: Something rarely goes so funny wrong – culture

Of

Cornelius Pollmer

In the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie on Wednesday evening last week, a much-noticed disturbance took place. The Saxon State Orchestra wanted to perform Brahms and Beethoven. Shortly before the beginning of the evening, two activists of the “Last Generation” dressed in safety vests stepped onto the conductor’s podium, glued themselves to the railing and recited their protest prose. A lot was said about it beyond the concert hall of the Elbphilharmonie because the said railing was surprisingly easy to detach from the platform and the activists stayed put, but not for long in front of the immediately impatient audience, who were already booing loudly , before the super glue had set. Instead, the two were glued on and brought backstage together with the pole.
