Lassalle announces that he will not stand again; Roussel hopes for an agreement between the Communists and LFI “in the coming hours”

Negotiations on the left: “I am ready to put aside this nuclear issue”, advances Fabien Roussel (PCF), who, on the other hand, wants guarantees on the number of constituencies

The former presidential candidate Fabien Roussel argued, at the microphone of Franceinfo this morning, that the challenge for the forces of the left was indeed to obtain a majority of deputies “Communists, “rebellious”, socialists, ecologists”, through a coalition, where “everyone has a strong group” and can defend, if necessary, different positions. “These differences are a richness”continued the national secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF).

“I read that Jean-Luc Mélenchon was committed to this. That’s what this afternoon’s discussion is about.”, continued the deputy from the North. While his party currently has only eleven MPs, he wants to obtain guarantees that he will be able to form a group under the next legislature (fifteen MP seats are needed).

“We are discussing with the leaders of La France insoumise to show that, in several constituencies in our country, the only local personalities capable of beating the National Rally or the outgoing deputies of the majority (…) are personalities established locally and who have this ability to bring people together”he continued, while this issue of constituencies is precisely one of the sticking points encountered last week between LFI and the PCF.

On the subject of substantive differences, particularly on nuclear power, Mr. Roussel said: “I am ready to put aside this nuclear issue. We are going to put aside the annoyances, but I ask that, precisely, we can have a group so that those who think, on the left, that we need it [du nucléaire]» can be represented. “It means that it will not be in the legislative contract that we will have to sign together”he added.

Regarding the minimum wage of 1,400 euros net included in the agreement by LFI, Mr. Roussel, who wanted a minimum wage of 1,500 euros net or 1,900 euros gross, argued: “We say that we sign at 1,400 euros. » He also said he was in favor of retiring at 60.

On the other hand, Mr. Roussel has at heart “that, in the legislative contract, we can address the question of money, finance”. He thus defended the idea that his presidential proposal be taken up so that France acquires“a public financial center”. “I have no doubt that, on this question, Jean-Luc Mélenchon will not block. »

“I see the far right divided, I see the En Marche [divisés]the divided right, and we have the possibility of being united on an ambitious program, argued Mr. Roussel. So, yes, the Popular Front’s anniversary is symbolic and I would be very happy if we could sign this evening or in the hours to come to celebrate this fine anniversary. »
