Landshut: Judgment in the manslaughter trial in Los Angeles – Bavaria

The district court in Landshut has sentenced a man to eleven and a half years in prison for a violent crime in the USA. The court rated the act on Thursday as manslaughter, originally the 25-year-old was charged with murder. In addition, the criminal court ordered that the accused be accommodated in a specialist clinic for alcohol and drug withdrawal.

The man admitted to shooting an acquaintance in Los Angeles in October 2018. He said a dispute had escalated and expressed regret over the act. The suspect wanted by the US authorities was arrested at Munich Airport in 2020. Because the airport is within the jurisdiction of the Landshut district court, negotiations were held there.

The planned extradition of the man with American and Iranian citizenship to the United States failed due to a complaint by the accused. The man was then charged before the court in Lower Bavaria.
