La France insoumise refuses the nomination to Alexis Corbière, Raquel Garrido and Danielle Simonnet

“I hope I can (…) regain your trust,” reacts Adrien Quatennens

The deputy La France insoumise (LFI) from the North Adrien Quatennens, convicted of domestic violence, reacted, Friday evening, after the publication of the list of 230 nominations provided by his party for the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7, of which he is part.

“To all those who oppose or doubt the relevance of my candidacy, know that I understand you. I hope I can, humbly, and through my actions, regain your trust”wrote, in a press release, this loyalist of the leader of the “rebels” Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

The decision, at the same time, not to invest Danielle Simonnet, elected in Paris, as well as Raquel Garrido and Alexis Corbière, deputies from Seine-Saint-Denis, who embody discordant voices within LFI, caused a reaction.

The LFI deputy François Ruffin was moved by the fate of his colleagues : “I have not fallen under the caudal forks of your stupidity, your sectarianism. You prefer a man who hits his wife, perpetrator of domestic violence, to comrades who have the impudence to have a disagreement with the great leader. Our democracy deserves better than you”.

“Shame on you Jean-Luc Mélenchon. It’s sabotage. But I will do better. We will do better”wrote to the address of Mr. Mélenchon Raquel Garrido denouncing “disgusting methods”.

Last fall, Mme Garrido had been sanctioned for four months by LFI for having openly criticized several members of the movement and Jean-Luc Mélenchon, around governance or the party’s strategy.

The outgoing LFI deputies Hendrik Davi (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Frédéric Mathieu (Ille-et-Vilaine) were also not invested. Mr. Davi spoke of a lack of “decency” in this decision.
