Krumbach: fire in refugee home was arson – Bavaria

After the fire in a refugee home in Swabia, an attempted murder is being investigated. As the police reported on Wednesday, the fire in the basement of the accommodation in Krumbach (Günzburg district) was most likely set by an arsonist on Sunday. Clothing was set on fire. “As a result, there was a lot of smoke, which under certain circumstances could have even led to the death of the residents.”

A resident reported the fire shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday evening. The fire brigade quickly extinguished the flames, but three people were injured when they fled the smoke-filled building. The house was initially uninhabitable due to the smoke, and the dozen or so residents were accommodated elsewhere.

The Kripo Memmingen had taken over the investigation because the cause of the fire was unclear and also consulted an expert from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office. Now the suspicion of serious arson and attempted murder is being investigated. The investigators continue to hope that witnesses can provide information about suspicious people or vehicles in the vicinity of the dormitory on the evening of the crime.
