The Russian army is running out of soldiers. The Kremlin propaganda is intended to provide supplies. And so Vladimir Solovyov agitates for the war day after day. Young Russian men are supposed to go to the front for Putin. Just not his own sons.

When it comes to the children of others, Vladimir Solovyov is ready to sacrifice them on the altar of insanity of his master and master, Vladimir Putin. “Life is overrated. Why fear the inevitable?” he recently chanted on state TV, trying to allay his countrymen’s fear of dying in the trenches. “Besides, we’re going to heaven anyway,” he comforted his audience in the words of his commander-in-chief.

But those who don’t want to fight for Putin in the “Great Patriotic War,” in “jihad,” or in Russia’s “holy war”—as Solovyov likes to call the war of aggression against Ukraine—are cowardly traitors to him. Every evening he agitates on television for the war effort.

Patriot for Kremlin propaganda

It is the patriotic duty of every young Russian man to contribute to the war effort, Solovyov said recently in his one-man show “Full Contact”.

In his program “Evening with Solovyov” he tried to convince viewers that it was time to send conscripts into action. The Russian youth would literally clamor to be sent to the front – with the blessing of their parents. As evidence he used the urban legend of an ominous mother who is said to have thrown her son’s belongings out of the window and ordered him to go to war.

What applies to others does not apply to Vladimir Solovyov

As Soloviev happily tells this story, he has no intention of giving his own children this upbringing. In the past week, recordings of his son Daniil flew around the ears of the master Hetzer. At the age of 21, judging by his father’s slogans, the young man would be predestined for the war effort. It would even be his “sacred patriotic duty,” as Solovyov put it.

But instead, Daniil prefers to pose as a model with long hair and painted fingernails. Jason Smart, correspondent for the “Kyiv Post” triggered the commotion with a tweet. While Solovyov is promoting the war in Ukraine, his son is working as a model in London, the journalist wrote, denouncing Solovyov’s hypocrisy. Several shots of the young man accompanied the tweet. In one of the pictures he poses for a hairdressing salon in Moscow.

The rumor that Daniil Solovyov works as a model in London stems from a hoax that has gone viral in recent days. Accordingly, Daniil said he could not sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense because he already had a model contract in London. However, several media outlets, including Russian publications loyal to the Kremlin, overlooked the joking nature of the post and reported that Solovyov Junior actually works as a model in the British capital.

tactics of distraction

Solovyov tried to exploit this circumstance to distract from his own double standards. “This is the propaganda work of the Ukrainian secret services! My son is in Moscow and has always been in Moscow”, raged Solovyov.

“You are pathetic, cheap creatures,” he rumbled at the Russian media workers who have been spreading the joke about his son as fact. “You are working through the agenda of the SBU (Ukrainian secret service)! You are agents of Ukrainian Nazis!” Solovyov continued to rage. So he doesn’t accept any apologies.

“If they were real journalists, they would name the agency and the address in London. (…) But our people cannot do journalism. (…) You are creatures for sale and not journalists!”

I guess someone was speaking from personal experience. After all, Solovyov knows better than anyone else how the propaganda business works in Russia. But as soon as it’s up to his own collar, the master of baiting doesn’t understand a joke.

And so the father of many resorted to a tried-and-tested tactic of Kremlin propaganda: distraction. Instead of explaining why he wanted to send other people’s children to the front but not his own, Solovyov instead made wild accusations against his colleagues. What’s more, he said bluntly that it’s nobody’s business where his sons are. He will continue to hide her.

Solovyov has eight children from three marriages. Daniil comes from his third marriage to model Elga Sepp. Solovyov has a second son who is of military age: Alexander, 34 years old, commercial director. Neither of them did military service. Solovyov does not want to send either of them to war for Putin. It is the others who should sacrifice their children. Just not Solovyov.
