Tour: BAP on a musical journey through time
BAP wants to play all the songs from the two double platinum albums from 81/82 on the upcoming tour. This comes with a challenge.
Wolfgang Niedeckens BAP is going on tour next year with the songs from the Kölsch rock band’s heyday in the early 80s. As the band announced, the “Zeitreise 81/82 Tour” includes 29 concerts and takes you to numerous German cities, Switzerland and the Benelux countries.
The tour starts on November 2nd, 2024 in Augsburg and ends on December 13th, 2024 in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne. BAP wants to play all the songs from the two double platinum albums from 81/82 on their musical journey through time. There are already four “time travel” concerts in Cologne’s historic Sartory Halls from December 7th to 10th this year, but they are all sold out.
“I’m really looking forward to the tour,” said Niedecken (72) to the German Press Agency in Cologne. “But it won’t be easy, because we have to find the right balance. On the one hand, we can’t drift into kitschy nostalgia, but on the other hand, we have to respect the personal memories of countless fans. That means we have to do it with a certain amount of respect.”
He finds it remarkable – and sometimes depressing – that many songs have lost none of their relevance, for example “Kristallnaach” and the song “Zehnter Juni” with the opening line “Just don’t plan me with you”. “You could easily apply that today to a Russian deserter from Putin’s army,” said Niedecken.
