Actor Nikolaus Schilling has died

Actor Nikolaus Schilling died at the age of 98. He became famous for his comical roles on the side of Loriot and Ekel-Alfred.

Quirky supporting roles made him a TV celebrity, at the age of 98 the actor Nikolaus Schilling died. According to media reports, Schilling died on December 1st in a retirement home in Holzminden, Lower Saxony, as it has now become known.

Born in Detmold, he achieved cult status primarily through his supporting roles in the Loriot films “Ödipussi” (1988) and “Pappa ante Portas” (1991). In the latter, he plays the role of a door-to-door seller who rants about the end of the world in order to sell root brushes against it. His line of text “Would you like mouse gray, stone gray or asphalt gray?” from “Oedipussi” should still be known to many viewers even after decades.

Schilling had previously appeared in various film and television productions, including the pirate Kalle in “Pipi in Taka-Tuka-Land” (1970). He had his last TV role between 2004 and 2006 in the Sat.1 series “A case for the fox”. There he played in five episodes, among others alongside Simone Thomalla and Esther Schweins.

Strange roles

An appearance at the side of the cult figure “Ekel Alfred” in the series “Ein Herz und ein Seele” stuck with the audience to this day, as Schilling told the “Westfalen-Blatt” in an interview two years ago. “The Loriot films and the disgusting Alfred East Zone episode also runs on television every few months. I still get feedback today – and I even watch the programs “, reported Schilling. In the Ekel Alfred episode he plays Otto Graf, the father of the” Sozi “son-in-law Michael, who is visiting from East Germany .

Schilling also played cabaret and theater for many years. Until 2012 he was on stage in Holzminden, where he later lived in a senior citizens’ residence.
