Kita crisis in Germany: damage to the whole country – economy

Closed facilities, reduced opening hours and now also a strike. The day care center crisis not only strains parents, it harms the whole country. Why good and reliable childcare must have top priority.

Hardly any topic heats up the minds of parents like this: “I could scream right now,” writes a mother when she finds out that she can only hope for an afternoon place (longer than 2 p.m.) in an Oldenburg daycare center in a year (!). “HELL, what does that say about the current situation in the daycare centers?!” curses another, whose kindergarten now also looks after the children of another facility because it had to close completely due to too many cases of illness. The doctor, who now has to pick up the child three hours earlier in the afternoon, sounds almost resigned: “Now I can see how I care for my patients.”
