King Charles III (73) has officially started his royal work. This shows a new photo released by Buckingham Palace on Friday (September 23).. The monarch can be seen sitting at his desk. Next to him is a red box with documents. According to the caption, these are papers from ministers from the United Kingdom, as well as representatives from the Commonwealth and other countries. They “are sent from the Office of the Private Secretary in a locked red postal box to the King wherever he is,” the palace continues.
Previously, his mother, Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), who died on September 8, held this position. Other pictures in the series show her in the course of her 70-year tenure with the red box. “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth received the red boxes made at her coronation in 1952 almost every day of her reign, including weekends and bank holidays but with the exception of Christmas Day,” the palace commented on the photos.
