King Charles III’s first voyage abroad (74) since his coronation there is said to have been a hiking holiday in Romania. The British monarch will be born in June, according to The Sun fly to the country where he owns at least ten properties.
Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis (63) will officially welcome King Charles to his official residence, Cotroceni Castle in the capital Bucharest. According to the report, the trip should mostly be designed as a short vacation. Queen Camilla (75) is said not to be there.
Regular visits to Romania
According to the “Sun”, Charles often visits Romania in the months of May or June. He is said to enjoy hiking and painting near his home in Viscri, a town in Brasov County in the Transylvania region. According to the report, he once said of the landscape in Romania: “There is a feeling of ancient continuity here. A virtuous circle in which man and nature are in balance.” There is said to be no radio or television in his house there.
Following the coronation on May 6th, King Charles and Queen Camilla took a few days off in Sandringham, Norfolk. According to British media reports, the royal couple is planning an official joint trip to Kenya this year. According to the “Daily Mail”, it is expected that he will travel to the East African country in order to put the Commonwealth even more at the center of his reign. It is a milestone for his political orientation, they say.
A state visit by Charles and Camilla to France, which was postponed in the spring, is also expected to be made up for in the summer. For the first time in 45 years, The Sun reported that the monarch canceled his annual ski trip to the Swiss Alps in March over fears he might injure himself ahead of the coronation.
