A star-studded and acclaimed highlight took place in Cannes with the premiere of Martin Scorsese’s film “Killers of the Flower Moon”.

With “Killers of the Flower Moon”, one of the most promising films of the year celebrated its premiere on Saturday evening (May 20) at the Cannes Film Festival. The drama is the seventh collaboration between director Martin Scorsese (80) and Leonardo DiCaprio (48), and veteran star Robert De Niro (79) is also involved. The concentrated star power of the three and other well-known casts made sure that the whole of Cannes fell at their feet, first on the red carpet and later in the cinema hall.

The fact that Scorsese in particular was enthusiastically applauded may also have something to do with the fact that “Killers of the Flower Moon” according to “abc News” is the first film since 1985, with which the director is once again represented in Cannes. Of course, the two Oscar winners DiCaprio and De Niro were also duly celebrated. All three stars had chosen to wear suits by the Alexander McQueen label for the special occasion. Only De Niro combined it with a tie, while Scorsese and DiCaprio wore bow ties.

But not only the stars of the film appeared at its premiere. Supermodels Naomi Campbell (52), Irina Shayk (37) and Alessandra Ambrosio (42) also romped around on the red carpet. Musician Robbie Williams (49) and Hollywood stars Salma Hayek (56) and Cate Blanchett (54) did not miss the eagerly awaited premiere.

Even after the film, enthusiasm knew little. The cast of the almost three and a half hour long Apple production, which is said to have cost around 200 million US dollars, received several minutes of standing ovations.

That’s what “Killers of the Flower Moon” is about

At the beginning of the 20th century, unexpected oil deposits made the Osage Nation one of the most prosperous peoples in the world almost overnight. However, the new prosperity attracts white invaders who manipulate, blackmail and eventually murder the indigenous people in order to get their money. After a shocking series of murders, the newly formed FBI begins investigating.

In the western drama based on a true story, superstar DiCaprio plays the character Ernest Burkhart, a white man who falls in love with the native Mollie Kyle, played by Lily Gladstone (36). De Niro plays Burkhart’s father, William Hale. Jesse Plemons (35) and Brendan Fraser (54), who just won an Oscar for “The Whale”, can be seen in other roles.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” starts in German cinemas on October 19. The film will then be available exclusively on the Apple TV+ streaming service.
