Ship collides with bridge in Kiel

It is still unclear how the accident happened. But one thing is already certain: the collision of a ship with the Holtenauer Hochbrücke has temporary consequences for traffic on the Kiel Canal.
A ship hit a bridge with its cargo on the Kiel Canal on the Kiel Canal and damaged it. The ship was heading towards Brunsbüttel early Wednesday morning when a loaded crane crashed into the Holtenau high bridges, a police spokesman said on Wednesday morning. The bridge suffered visible damage as a result.
Since it is currently unclear how badly the collision damaged the bridge, the bridge and shipping traffic on the canal in both directions have been closed indefinitely. During the day, the statics of the bridge should be checked. It was initially unclear how the collision came about and how much damage was caused to property.
