“Orange Is the New Black” actress Kathryn Kates is dead. She died at the age of 73 from complications from cancer.
Mourning for Kathryn Kates: The US actress died on January 22 at the age of 73. Your agency does confirmed via Instagram, among others. Kates was best known as a series actor. For example, she was seen in “Orange Is the New Black”, “Seinfeld”, “Law & Order: SVU” and “The Sopranos”.
As several US media report unanimously, Kates is said to have succumbed to the consequences of lung cancer. “She was always incredibly brave and wise and approached every role with the utmost passion. She will be greatly missed,” her agency said on Instagram.
A popular series face
Kate’s acting career began in the 1950s on the theater stage. In the 80s she finally got her first smaller television roles before she was seen in the successful formats “Matlock”, “Thunder Alley” and “Seinfeld”. She was also engaged for the series “Lizzie McGuire”, “Judging Army” and “Rescue Me”.
She is best known for her role as Amy Kanter-Bloom in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Most recently, she appeared in the 2021 crime drama film The Many Saints of Newark.
