A 26-year-old hiker fell 80 meters in the Bavarian Karwendel Mountains (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district) and suffered fatal injuries. The young woman had probably slipped and crashed at about 1900 meters because of the icy ground, as the police announced on Sunday. An acquaintance had reported the woman as missing.
According to the information, the 26-year-old set off alone on a mountain tour towards the western Karwendelspitze on Friday. The Mittenwald mountain rescue service and the alpine police force immediately started the search. The missing person was eventually found lifeless with the help of a police helicopter.
