Karlsfeld mourns Mathilde Reitberger – Dachau

Mathilde Reitberger, called “Hilde”, the well-known and popular woman from Karlsfeld, is dead. She died in mid-February at the age of 80. With daughter Christa and husband Walter, many Karlsfelders are now mourning their loss.

For almost 30 years, Hilde Reitberger was the face of the Karlsfeld community library, first as an employee and then as its manager until her retirement in 2005. The trained photo lab technician was in her element in the library: Karlsfelder of all ages talked to her about their interests, and she knew what advice to give to their book lovers. “The soul grows when you read a good book,” Voltaire once said.

“You can really talk to Hilde”

Hilde Reitberger organized author readings – for young and old. She loved historical novels or biographies of women behind powerful men. Her personal passion was Bavarian history, which she also studied in detail as a guest student at Munich University.

Other people were important to her. And if something burned someone’s soul, Hilde Reitberger listened for hours. “You can really talk to Hilde” was a common opinion.

The urn burial will take place on Tuesday, March 8, at 1 p.m. in the Karlsfeld Cemetery.
