Karl Lauterbach in Israel: Digital Deep Dive in the land of his dreams

At home in Germany, Karl Lauterbach has just brought new corona rules through the Bundestag. Now the health minister in Israel wanted to learn how to digitize the health system. It won’t be easy.

Karl Lauterbach pulls out his smartphone and holds it up to the night sky. Up there, a few hundred meters above Tel Aviv, drones are buzzing around that evening. Sometimes they glow green, sometimes blue, sometimes red, sometimes white. Perfectly coordinated, the electric flying objects form into different patterns. First they show the lettering “WHO”. Later, a snake can be seen coiling around a staff. At some point, the prototypical image of a corona virus will also appear in the sky. Although Karl Lauterbach will later say that the pattern reminded him more of the monkeypox virus.
