Karine Lacombe, accused of defamation by Didier Raoult, released

Prosecuted before the Marseille criminal court after a complaint by the former director of the Marseille IHU Didier Raoult for defamation, the infectious disease specialist and head of service at the Saint-Antoine hospital in Paris Karine Lacombe was released on Tuesday.

In an interview with Europe 1 in July 2020, Karine Lacombe said that “legal actions [contre Didier Raoult] for lying before the parliamentary commission are ongoing”. The doctor was referring to Didier Raoult’s hearing by the National Assembly a few weeks earlier, during which the director of the IHU at the time claimed that the death rate linked to the coronavirus was higher in Paris than ‘in Marseille. The president of the court put forward Karine Lacombe’s “good faith excuse”.
