Juventus Turin apparently decided against signing Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne
At a young age, Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne were apparently recommended at Juventus Turin. The Italians are said to have refused.
In 2013, Juventus Turin apparently decided against the possible obligations of today’s world stars Mohamed Salah (Liverpool FC) and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) despite a recommendation. That comes from a report of the Gazzetta dello Sport emerged.
According to this, Juve’s current sports coordinator Federico Cherubini, who was then a junior manager and scout for the Bianconeri, is said to have recommended the two youngsters to the club’s bosses. Cherubini observed Salah, who was playing for FC Basel at the time, and De Bruyne, who was then awarded to Werder Bremen by Chelsea, several times.
Salah and De Bruyne? Juventus wanted more experienced players
He was so convinced of their qualities that he made a clear recommendation to Juve to sign the then 21-year-old Egyptian and the 22-year-old Belgian. However, Turin decided against it, according to the report, as they preferred to invest in more experienced players.
De Bruyne initially returned to Chelsea from Werder in the summer of 2013, but was unable to assert himself at the Blues and moved to VfL Wolfsburg in early 2014. The now 30-year-old midfielder has been under contract with City since 2015.
Meanwhile, Salah went to Chelsea from Basel in early 2014, but he wasn’t happy in London either. Instead, the now 29-year-old attacker developed into a top player in Florence and with Roma, Salah has been whirling in Liverpool since 2017.
